Bharat AI Challenge

The Challenge invites students, researchers, and startups to build practical AI solutions for real public sector problems.

How it works

Problem statements come from government departments and PSUs that are willing to test promising ideas.

  1. Problem statements released

Partner institutions share challenges drawn from their work, along with any data they can make available.

  2. Teams register

Teams of number to number members submit a short concept note.

  3. Shortlisting

A jury selects teams to build working prototypes, with mentoring from our experts.

  4. Final demonstration

Finalists present to a panel of officials, researchers, and industry leaders.

  5. Pilot opportunity

Winning teams may be invited to pilot their solution with the partner institution.

Judging criteria

  • Usefulness to the problem owner
  • Technical soundness
  • Feasibility within government systems
  • Handling of data privacy and fairness
  • Ability to work in Indian languages where relevant
